Welcome to Mary C Gluten Free Treats! Our menu items are crafted in a Cottage Food operation approved by the Cook County Health Department, (Registration 25-252).  Only the finest gluten-free ingredients and dedicated equipment are used in a spotless kitchen where all efforts to prevent cross-contamination are made. Rest assured, all food prep areas are subject to a high standard of cleanliness.

Cottage Food Operators are subject to rules and regulations from their local health departments.  They are required to have this message posted at point of sale: "The product is produced in a home kitchen not subject to public health inspection that may also process common food allergens. If you have safety concerns, contact your local health department."

For our resellers, and for our customer orders where it is required by the venue to utilize a commercial kitchen, we have you covered.  We also produce in a licensed commercial kitchen in Lake Zurich, IL, where we take every precaution to minimize cross-contamination.  Please use the contact form for further information.

Mary, the proprietor of Mary C Gluten-Free Treats, has a long-standing interest in baking. As a teen, Mary worked at two different bakeries in Chicago. As she learned more about the bakery environment, her interest continued.  Following a long career in sales and marketing positions at Levi Strauss & Co., she is now dedicating her time to prioritizing health, family, friends, joy, and her passion for baking.

 

Recognizing the growing demand for healthier, gluten-free, and grain-free alternatives, Mary combined this need with her love of baking. For over twenty years, Mary has strived to follow a gluten-free and anti-inflammatory diet for personal health reasons. Throughout this time, she has been dedicated to creating gluten-free versions of traditional recipes handed down through generations, as well as developing new ones.

 

Mary's recipes include a variety of treats, sweets, healthy snacks, and indulgent options designed for a contemporary audience. Holidays, celebrations, birthdays, and everyday routines are often associated with specific foods. Mary C Gluten- Free Treats seeks to support these traditions by offering more options that help maintain memories and create new ones.

 

Mary is continually enhancing her expertise and has obtained the Certificate of Completion for the Illinois Food Handler Training Certificate Program as well as the Premier Food Safety Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification. She has met the requirements and received registration and approval for Cottage Food Operation registration in Illinois from the Cook County Department of Public Health. Mary continues to expand her knowledge in various modes including classes offered at the Wilton Sweet Studio.
